Values

I guess i have too many values within me that would easy fill this up if i wrote them all down, in anycase my main values would revolve around God, my family, my own personal code of honour and several other things. This values are what give meaning to my life, like I actually believe in true love and marriage, i.e no divorce. Call me old school, but i like my girls: korean, traditonal(in a sense of attitude) and loyal. I also believe in self preservation, this may sound initially selfish, but my self preservation is different from the normal sense of the word, in a sense that i have a good knowledge of what is good and bad and that it would be very hard for people to sway me to either side, unless I myself know/determine either side's consequences. As for giving up this values, as mentioned earlier i have a strong sense of integrity regarding values, morals etc. To directly put it, whatever bad things I have done before, i have done because I wanted to and not because someone else persuaded me.  I cannot say I'm clean, I'd kiss the as* of that person who says they are(hope its a korean girl) all I CAN SAY, is that whatever wrongdoings i have committed I did out of my own reasons, and not because I sold out my values for another person.

The man called "Listen" through the curtain. The woman came out from the bar.
"Four reales"
"We want two Anis del toro."
"With water meh?"

"Dunno la," the girl said. "good with water issit?"
"can lor"
"aiyoh, want anot with water? faster leh." asked the woman.
"k la, k la, with water can already."
"It taste like licorice sia," the girl said putting the glass down.
"you always liddat la, always say: thats the way with everything,"
"yes" said the girl "everything tastes like licorice. Especially all the things you've waited so long for, like absinthe."
"aiyoh, cut it out leh? had enough already"
"you started it wat." the girl said "i was being amused right. only having  fun time."
"ok la, can try have fine time."
"Alright. I was trying right. i said the mountains looked like white elephants. so bright right?"
"k, so bright one."
"Then i try this drink. aiyoh! this all what we do, look at stuff liddat then after kena, anyhow try new drink. serious anot?"
" i guess so"
The girl looked across the hills.
"So lovely the hills." she said "They never look like white elephants lor, i just mean of the coloring of their skin through the trees."
"another drink want?
"ok."  
  

Dead Men's Path - Chinua Achebe

This story is basically a lesson of "never forgeting your roots" so to speak, or not knowing your past may affect your future. There are countless analogies that basically lead to one main point, and this story of "Dead Men's Path" is yet another. It's a story about a small time teacher, turned headmaster, turned dreamer "Obi", as he heads a new school with his equally ambitious wife. He, with new visions of grandeur,  soon forgets the traditon and ancestry of his people, which in turn will strike him later on. It is said he closes a certain "path" that leads into a sacred "burial ground", Obi not heeding the warnings of tradition and merely shrugging it off as baloney, continues the developement of the school, sealing the path, later on dealing with the karma brought upon him by himself when the school is razed and destroyed. This story basically teaches us not to forget our culture, tradtion as it were, because no matter how advance and how so called "modernized" we are it is our past that made us. In my case, growing up in a, shall we say mixed family, my cousins are full or quarter blooded eurasians including myself, it would be quite hard to pinpoint our "tradition", since out tradition just so happens to involve numerous countries. I personally, still "mano po" to my elders on both sides of the family, or I simply bow down to them whenever a family reunion is taking place. This story can perhaps me a great lesson for people and especially for me, I for one would like to marry a Korean girl, Koreans if I can say so myself are very traditional, even if appearance wise they are one of the most modern in the world today, they are essentially "asian", i.e very culture based, so we (I) must learn  how to respect that fact.

Use of Force

MAIN:
The Plot of the story is mainly told from the Doctor's eyes. It basically revolves around how the doctor is struggling to find out the illness or the pain that is being endured by a patient specifically, one Mathilda Olson. The Olsons caring about their daughter, brings Mathilda to the doctor. Mathilda being a stubborn child as she is hiding her illness away from both the family and the doctor. Through the doctor's expertise and wit, he finally uncovers what Mathilda is suffering through and finds out the illness she has kept from her parents for three days.

MY REFLECTION:
In this story it basically shows the typical reactions and stereotypes within families and such. As this story is told from the doctors point of view, it is shown that the doctor is very calm and professional about the problem, going as far as the "usage of force" to find out what is troubling the little girl, hence the title. Mathilda on the other hand is pretty much like most children, afraid of the "direct" consequences, she hides problems from her parents and in this case her illness for fear of getting into more trouble, her parents meanwhile, are still very concerned for her, especially her mother who is shown to be very caring for Mathilda's well fare.

Artmusic "Final Requirement" PHOTO ESSAY

                                                                     Introduction

               Culinary art is a form of art that utilizes food and their specific ingredients to create a aesthetically pleasing order of food which contributes to the overall appeal of the entire dish. I have chosen culinary art as my overall theme for this project since in most cases this form of art is unappreciated not in the sense of the actual taste but more of the over all look and presentation. Since most high-class chefs not only aim to satisfy the customer's pallete but also the visual senses. The connection between this form of art and the rest of our course,  is that this also involves a higher method of thinking only found in humans, the visual appeal of these dishes are made by chefs, artists in their own right. An empty plate being their canvas, the food ingredients their paint. I have also chosen this because I visited Singapore not so long ago and have eaten various forms of local and foreign types of foods there, since Singapore is a nation of many nations. This in turn made me decide to talk and to elaborate more into a form of art that is culinary art.

It is Korean traditional food which is consisted of colorful vegetables

and it served alot in Singaporean kopitiams. Kopitiams meaning coffee shop these so called shops sell all sorts of various foods from various nations.

Artmusic Photo Essay

De la Salle Canlubang University's Architecture and Ancient (Roman) Architecture

Ostium - Corresponded in general to the modern front hallway, the walls adorned with decorations and several rooms leading to various quarters. The hallway opened into the atrium, which was a large open room where guests were received.

Courtyard - These were built around two or three sides of a courtyard, one or two stories high. The other sides of the courtyard had high walls to keep out burglars. Today we use these courtyards for parking or outdoor social areas, but Roman people (who didn't have cars) used them for cooking, and for children to play in (social areas).

Roads - No other society has left such a lasting message of power and unity like the ancient Romans and their roads and bridges. The Romans ,in their prime, built thousands of miles of roads which stretched from Rome to Britain and from Carthage to Parthia. These roads were constructed "to last a century" and most lasted for two millennium and are still being used today.

Entablature - The entire unit of horizontal members above the columns in classical architecture such as Greek and Roman. Assemblage of horizontal moldings and bands supported by and located immediately above the columns of Classical buildings or similar structural supports in non-Classical buildings.

Columns -

Roman columns borrowed their designs and details heavily from Greek cultures. Several of the styles were blatantly copied, while others where adapted and combined to create new styles. Other cultures, including American culture, later copied Roman column designs. They are seen on modern structures as well as ancient buildings such as the ones seen here at the main entrance of our college.

My Mandala

Forgive the crudeness of my work. I made this using a compass, a pencil and color pastel...
It took me a grand total of 30-45 mins to think of a design and color it. The design is basically So Nyuh Shi Dae's Han-gul characters. So Nyuh Shi Dae being a popular K-POP band in Korea that i can proudly say i am a fan off. The whole thing is basically a character which can be pronounced: "Hoot" their newest mini-album. Inside the central shape is the characters for So Nyuh Shi Dae, as mentioned earlier. the characters surrounding the circle are the Han-gul names of the band's nine members and the colours, well each of the girls' favourites. Thank You... So Nyuh Shi Dae hwaiting!!! 

ARTMUSIC -PLATO REACTION 2

The term "Good life" is highly subjective, since anyone can actually say they too have a "good life" and neither them nor you will be the wiser. A rich man can say he lives the good life, what with having all the luxuries of life, or perhaps a poor man can say the same especially so if his happiness comes from the smallest and most subtle of things. Serendipity is one, ignorance is bliss is another. The poor man may not know of further happiness, not now of these luxurious things, but that does not make him a sad man. Even the smartest and richest of people can have a "bad life", in most certain cases it is these people that are actually more prone to suicide and other incidents. So anyone, rich or poor can afford a good life, they just need to know where to look.    

ARTMUSIC PLATO REACTION

When Plato said Art is detrimental to humanity, he obviously never chanced upon a japanese anime show, played a video game or perhaps even watched a nice movie.

If anything Art is what seperates us humans from the rest of the species in this world. Think about it, animals make things, this is evidenced by a bee's hive or even a termite mound in the plains of africa. So this proves they have an idea of engineering and such, they do this to have a home, a haven for them survive in and to reproduce, but we humans are off a higher order, we do not merely make something to just survive in. Our houses do not resemble a box with a triangle on top of it does it? We live just not to survive but to create something, that thing is art. We make things not to just merely use it, but to deeply ponder on it. It is this 'higher level' of thinking that makes art only rational to us Humans or perhaps aliens out there. Art is what makes everything around us beautiful, it is not placed there just for function but also for us know of it's existence.

This is so, in a sense that if a room is full of artworks, it is full with the thoughts and opinions of the artists that painted them. One can say that if a person is looking at a picture or a painting he/she is looking at what that artist's thought was, what that artist was trying to say/convey to the world. Since no artwork is ugly, and is purely subjective, same goes for the idea behind it. Every idea is unique and special in it's own way. 

I, R.I.G.E.L

   My name is Francisco Rigel Adriano IV. You can call me Francisco or Rigel in this case, as most of my friends both here and in Singapore interchange my nicknames. I am in my second year in La Salle Canlubang, studying the course ABCA. I am into competitive gaming such as: Halo: Reach, MW2 just to name a few, I have won several, yet minor competitions in both Philippines and in Singapore. I regularly visit my friends in Singapore as I have accepted them as friends in the same manner as my local friends. I enjoy gallivanting around Changi, Orchard and Clark Quay with my Singaporean friends whenever I'm in the city. I have chosen the BL40 Chocolate Phone to represent me, mostly because it has some traits that can be attributed to me, such as the simplicity of it's design yet has complex inner workings,  the expensive yet worthwhile analogy can be applied to me as well. What I'm basically trying to say is, I choose my friends wisely and that I see my friends for who they really are, and if they learn to accept and do the same for me, the rewards are anything but cheap. As it were with the BL40, it's expensive but if you finally buy it, it would pay for itself over and over each time it is being used.
